Painting Nocturnes

I have recently taken on the ominous task of trying to create nocturn paintings in watercolor.  My nocturnes are light and shadow and tonal paintings.  Tonal paintings have no light, just varying values from black to white.  In my light and shadow paintings, I choose a color for the sky and ground and a color for the light and shadow it reflects.  I then add a little chinese white to the dark color.  I will then change the painting by adding a mother color like orange or pink to all of the colors and do a painting.  That's how I get a pink glow or an orange glow.  It is so challenging and so much fun.  Check out my website http://cathyjonesart.com, click on Works, and scroll down to Nocturnes to see what I have created.  The painting I have posted is Remington's howling wolf with the mother color of orange.  See more on my website of the howling wolf along with two landscapes.
